Having been widely acclaimed as superb Korean-style fantasy fairy tale, the five-part "Cat School" has been translated into English and published as three-volume books. Based on more than 15 years of the author's experience of raising cats, the book illustrates the ecology of cats and presents remarkable "twists" and foreshadowing. Mixing myths of many nations, including Egypt, North Europe, India and China, the books give readers the message: "the harmony between man and nature." A thousand years ago, during a solar eclipse, the Crystal Cave was attacked by shadow cats. Ever since then, the Crystal Cave has been dark and silent. Enrolled in the Cat School, Willow, Mandrake, and Loveletter move step by step closer to the secret of the Crystal Cave. From the moment they set foot in the cave, a thick darkness begins to cover the light of the moon. When the Day of Apopis comes, the prophecies in the old books of magic are realized one by one. Piles of garbage cover the school, apparitions of the dead appear, and the world is thrown into uncontrollable chaos. As the predicted solar eclipse approaches, Willow and his friends prepare to defend Minjun and Sena against the shadow cats- attack. In deep, dense darkness, Willow's gang meets Ali Baba once more. Ahead of them lie adventures that have never been predicted in the magic books and no one could have expected. For the first time in 2,000 years, the spirit of darkness opens its blazing yellow eyes as the magic crystals fall into a deep sleep. Originally written by Kim Jin-kyung and illustrated by Kim Jae-hong, the books were translated by Cho Sukyeon and Andrew Killick. |
